GURKHA PEACE FOUNDATION (GPF)

The Gurkha Peace Foundation is thrilled to announce the resounding success of the 13th Annual Gurkha Walk 2026. This year’s event brought together an incredible community of supporters, runners, and families to celebrate solidarity, fitness, and Gurkha heritage.

A Legacy of Unity and Support

Established to honor the bravery, sacrifice, and enduring legacy of the Gurkha soldiers, the annual Gurkha Walk has grown into a cornerstone community event. Organized by the Gurkha Peace Foundation, the walk serves a dual purpose: promoting health and well-being within the community while raising vital awareness and funds for charitable initiatives supporting Gurkha veterans and their families both in the UK and Nepal. Over the last thirteen years, the event has evolved from a local gathering into a massive celebration of culture and unity.

This year, the energy was higher than ever, with around 3,000 attendees turning up to walk, run, cheer, and immerse themselves in the festivities.

Distinguished Guests Inspire the Crowd

The event was graced by esteemed Chief Guests who took to the stage to deliver inspiring speeches:

  • Sojan Joseph MP praised the vibrant integration and invaluable contributions of the Gurkha community to the wider British society.
  • Peter Carroll spoke passionately about the historic ties between the UK and the Gurkhas, emphasizing the importance of continued support and mutual respect.

Both speakers commended the Gurkha Peace Foundation for its unwavering dedication to bringing people together for such a noble cause.

The Race: Thrilling Finishes and Top Podiums

A Vibrant Celebration of Culture and Music

Following the prize distribution, the atmosphere shifted into a full-blown cultural festival.

The traditional sounds of the Naumati Baaja resonated across the venue, and Sakela Dances set a proud, cultural tone for the afternoon. Attendees were treated to a mesmerising dance performance by Shibadas Gurung, which drew massive cheers from the crowd.

The stage then came alive with musical performances by a stellar lineup of artists:

  • Soni Kunwar
  • Nira Thapa Magar
  • Poonam Gurung
  • Gobin Pun

Their energetic sets had the strong crowd on their feet, dancing, singing along, and celebrating well into the afternoon.

A Quick Weather Update

While the day was filled with joy, there was one minor hitch. Due to unpredictable weather conditions, our highly anticipated hot air balloon attraction had to be cancelled for safety reasons. We thank everyone for their understanding and cooperation regarding this decision, safety always comes first!

Thank You!

The Gurkha Peace Foundation extends its heartfelt gratitude to our volunteers, sponsors, local authorities, performers, and every single attendee who made the 13th Gurkha Walk an unforgettable milestone.

See you all next year for the 14th edition!
